At the risk of being too risqué, I want to tackle this notorious question within the bearded community. Does the size of your beard matter? The answer, from my perspective, is an emphatic YES!!!!!!
But really the only person it matters to is YOU.
I have a decently large beard. I get into conversations with people all the time about the size of their beard, or mine for that matter. The conversation is usually centered around how the other person feels inferior because their beard isn't as big as mine. Its never the other way around. Why? Because:::: I have learned that what counts is if I LOVE the length of MY beard.
Beard style and length are really up to the person growing their beard. I love all types of beards. I am a fan of all types of beards. I champion everyones facial hair no matter how short, long, gray, or red it is. I like beards with braids. I like beards with beads. I like beards that are different colors.
Actually one of my favorite facial hair styles is what I call the "Hipster Patchy." You have seen this beard. It is basically a face with patchy areas of hair on it. Its not a full beard at all. It is a patchy face with multiple lengths and textures of facial hair. The reason why I love this "beard" is because I am a fan of men growing facial hair. I am so much of a beard enthusiast in fact, that I even call people with no beards--"Mr. Near Beard." They have a beard... but at that moment it is hidden under the skin like a taboo crush. I just applaud Men and their God-given ability to push out facial hair:)
(Side Rant About Beard Products and Shorter Beards)
Being a beard grooming specialist and beard product producer, I hear from Mr. "Short beard" all the time. He usually doesn't think beard oil (or beard product) is for him because his beard just ain't that long. The truth is beard oil (and product) is for any size beard because beard oil (and product) is really more for the face than for the beard. In fact I believe that beard oil (and product) is especially for those with shorter beards.
You see, short beards can be really itchy--right? Well, beard oil can help that by adding really good moisture and oil back into the skin. (GREAT) Beard oil actually helps to add back into the skin the oils distributed to the newly grown, or shortly grown beard. When a beard is grown, the natural oils from the face are being distributed to the beard as well. Most of the time your face isn't producing enough oil to cover the new beard and the face--Thus, "Bandruff" or beard dandruff. Now add in the fact that most of us really like to wash our face and washing our face with the normal soaps out there really dry out the oils in our skin too. But I can help with that!!!! Beard oil will supplement and keep[ your face healthy and your beard nurtured. This is why it is important to buy really good beard oil.
(Back To Loving The Size of YOUR Beard)
Really, I am writing this to dispel the legend in the beard community that long beards are better beards. Frankly, it all depends on what you are comfortable and confident with. I used to be very insecure with a longer beard. So, I kept it trimmed and short. But one day I just fell too deeply in love with having a longer more scruffy beard to care what anyone else thought about it. At that point I began to grow it out and never looked back.
Since then (the choice to grow a longer beard) I have had people love it and hate it. People have told me to "Cut that nasty thing." And, I have had people who absolutely loved it. Truthfully it came down to me LOVING my Beard. Until I loved my own beard, I was constantly trying to please everyone else and grow out, or cut, the beard that THEY wanted.
Do you love YOUR BEARD?
So, Does Size Matter when it comes to beards...? YES!!! to the beard owners themselves. If you love YOUR Beard it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks
