How to Take Care of Your Beard in The Winter.
Confession Time. I went to Walmart the other day:) I did it, and I actually enjoyed myself. It was a very cold day, so the warmer temperature inside the BOX was a welcomed transition for me and my beard.
Funny though, as I walked out of Walmart back into the frigid air of the day, a lady walked by and said, "I wish I had a beard to keep me warm today." I chuckled back and said, "You should grow one." If I really cared, I would have also given her the following steps to take care of her new beard during the colder weather months. So read carefully and your beard won't disappear like frosty on a warmer day.
Truth is, the cold weather can be hard on your beard. It can make it brittle and dry it out. The "ice-sickle" beard may look cool...but man can it be damaging to all the work and time you have invested into your beard. So what is one to do?
1. Watch the Temperature. I am not specifically referring to the temperature outside. Rather, I am talking about the temperature of your shower water. Who doesn't like a hot shower on a cold day? However, remember this, hot water can strip the natural oils out of your skin faster than Santa on an over night delivery run. The natural oils of your face are healthy and necessary for maintaining an epic beard. I use a nice relaxing warm water temp to wash my beard.
2. Get PRODUCT-ive. The point of beard product is not about primping in the mirror before you head out to chop trees. The main point of beard product is to nourish your face and beard by adding the much needed (HEALTHY) oils. Beard oils, butters, balms, and waxes, used as a team, can prevent the brittle beard and help keep it nourished for the cold weather.

3. Feed and Water Your Beard. Proper nutrition and hydration is imperative for the health of your beard--especially in the colder months... read more here about healthy eating suggestions. For now... I would focus on making sure you are drinking at least 1/2 of your body weight in ounces of water, and eating some great Proteins and Omega-3's... seriously go here to get more in depth.
The cold weather can really put a whoopin on your beard... so, seriously take the above suggestions serious and watch your beard thrive in the winter time.
Sincerely,
Stephen
